Below the Center Hill Dam where it runs into the Caney Fork River. If you look closely at the rocks near the water's edge you can make out some kind of water fowl. Not sure what that was.

Me, Terry and our longtime friend, Danny Kilpatrick, took a short
road trip yesterday afternoon. We drove the back roads of Smith
county and ended up at the Center Hill dam. This pretty Mallard
duck was sitting on one of the rocks sticking up out of the water.
Soon after I snapped his picture, he was on his way. It was a fun
weekend filled with lots of laughs, which I really need these days!

Picture Postcards from Center Hill

Terry took this picture of Center Hill Dam from the overlook.

Winter Creek

With the last snowfall we had, we couldn't resist going
back down to Center Hill Dam. The river and creek were
way down, but still very pretty with the snowfall. I love
being in the woods. It's so serene.

The forecast for Middle Tennessee is calling for a winter
storm starting tomorrow into Saturday. Hopefully we'll
get a good amount of snow. Ice could also be a part of the
mix. I hope not! We've been through that before when we
lived in Kentucky. We didn't have power for three days.
You tend to take things like electricity for granted until you
don't have it.

Photo Memories from Wolf Creek

My husband Terry on the Buffalo Valley Nature trail. The
trail runs along the Caney Fork River and Wolf Creek.

Picturesque Wolf Creek. The creek was way up due to
generating on the Center Hill dam.

We enjoyed our leisurely walk around the creek. I want
to go back there when the weather warms up. This has
definitely become one of my new favorite places! The
trail isn't very long, but it makes for a nice walk.

I got a Canon Eos Rebel XSI digital camera for Christmas
and am enjoying it immensely! I'm not a professional
photographer by any means, but look forward to honing
my skills and taking better pictures. This batch of photos
will be the last that I'll be posting from my trusty Kodak
Easyshare.

"I think that I shall never see a poem lovely as a tree." ~ Joyce Kilmer

The following pictures were taken on the Buffalo Valley
Nature Trail at the Center Hill Dam.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest against the sweet
earth's flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day, and lifts her
leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear a nest of
robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain; who intimately
lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me, but only
God can make a tree."

Center Hill Lake

My road trip took me down to the Center Hill Dam.

There's a lot of work going on at the dam because of a seepage
problem.
