The Cardinal Bird
The Cardinal Bird
A day and then a week passed by:
The redbird hanging from the sill
Sang not; and all were wondering why
It was so still—
When one bright morning, loud and clear,
Its whistle smote my drowsy ear,
Ten times repeated, till the sound
Filled every echoing niche around;
And all things earliest loved by me,—
The bird, the brook, the flower, the tree,—
Came back again, as thus I heard
The cardinal bird.

Berry Buffet
Male and female Cardinals were back in our Bradford Pear trees
this afternoon feasting on the berries. Actually they aren't berries,
but small fruit that softens up in late fall. Whatever they are, the
birds love them. Blue Jays, Chickadees and Tufted Titmice were
also eating them as well. I love watching them, plus it makes for a
great photo opportunity :)

Fall Morning
"I don't ask for the meaning of the song of a bird or the rising of
the sun on a misty morning. There they are, and they are beautiful.

Free Food
Sunflowers are not only beautiful, but they attract lots of
birds to our garden. This cardinal was enjoying a midday
snack. I snapped this picture from our backporch with my
long lens.
Wearing it out :)
So many sunflowers so little time.

"Be as a bird perched on a frail branch that he feels bending beneath him, still he sings away all the same, knowing he has wings." ~ Victor Hugo
Snapped a picture of this beautiful Cardinal perched in our
cherry tree. Cardinals have always been one of my favorite
birds :)
A flash of red as he flies down to our birdbath.
