A friend of ours fed our cats and collected our mail while we were
at the beach last week. We called her to check on things and she
told us that we had lost one of our Tulip Poplar trees in a storm
that came through on Sunday, June 5th. There was a Bluebird
family nesting in a birdhouse in this same tree. You can probably
see it in this picture.

That looks like a pretty good sized tree! Sorry for the loss. I hate it when a nice tree goes down. Hope the bluebirds made it. And hope you didn't have any more damage. That storm came up really fast here after it hit your town. Lots of high wind. It blew the cicadas out of the trees. They were hitting the street like rocks :)

I'm very thankful that's all the damage we had after going through Birmingham and Cullman, Alabama and seeing the tornado damage down there. Denny and Shelley were lucky. There was all kinds of tornado damage close to their house in Harvest, Alabama. The Tulip Poplar that went down in our backyard was a big tree. We planted it not long after we moved here.

Wow! That's major storm damage. Sorry that the little biue bird box got blown out.
