I almost ran into this guy when I was going to turn the water on to use the hose. So glad I saw him before that happened. I love garden spiders! They're so pretty, plus they catch lots of insects and bugs in their webs.

Spider Web With Dew

I found this gigantic green spider on one of our roses this morning. Look at those hairy legs!

The Spider and the Fly
Mary Howitt

Will you walk into my parlour?" said the Spider to the Fly,
'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to shew when you are there."
Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair can ne'er come down again."

If You Don't Like Spiders, Look Away!

I wish the web showed up in this picture. It was very pretty! I took this picture from beneath his/her web. Our golden thread cypress bushes are full of them.

Creepy Crawlies

Seems like we have an abundance of spiders around our house this
year. The spider in this web is checking out a feather. I'm not sure
what that long thing is on the right. Maybe little spider egg sacks?

Argiope Aurantia

Yellow Garden spider wrapping up a bug that got caught in
his web. This view is from behind the spider. Almost looks like
he has eyes on his back.

The yellow garden spider is known for its ability to spin incredibly
complex web patterns. Anchored to branches, twigs, plant stems
and other structures, their webs are extremely strong and can
reach diameters as large as three feet. Yellow spider webs can
withstand the weight of numerous trapped insects.

Creepy Crawlers

I found this interesting looking spider on one of our rocking chair
legs. Creepy, but colorful.
