One thing I'll miss when our Zinnia's die out are the beautiful
butterflies that flock to our garden.

The Last of the Summer Roses

Beautiful Dale Hollow Lake

Last Sunday afternoon we had the pleasure of going to our favorite
lake in the state of Tennessee, Dale Hollow! The water is crystal
clear and even though it's September the water was still warm
enough to get in.

Spider Web

I'm back! Have you missed me :) I found this really cool spider
web in one of our Boxwoods a few days ago. I've been in
Gatlinburg TN the past few days, but it's nice to be back home
and on my computer!

Praying Mantis

I found this brown Praying Mantis on the window screen a couple
of days ago.

The name "mantis" comes from the Greek word for 'prophet' or 'soothsayer.'


Up close and personal. Smile for the camera :)

The praying mantis has very good eyesight and can see movement
up to 60 feet away from them. They also have ultrasonic hearing.

Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal

We had a yard full of Cardinals the other day. I counted
10 of them...males and females. I don't know what is
up with this Cardinal's feathers. He almost looks like he's
blotched or something.

A Sign of Things to Come

Most of the leaves on our Yoshino Cherry tree have turned or
have fallen. The Bradford Pears will be the last to lose their leaves.
Fall is almost here!

I Want to Get Away...I Want To Fly Away!

I'm not sure, but I think this may be a Turkey Buzzard. I saw him
circling around our back yard the other day. I took this with my
long lens. He was pretty high up!

I wish that I could fly

Rest Stop

I found this little skipper moth resting on a Zinnia leaf in what's
left of our garden. The butterflies and moths are few and far
between these days now that the flowers are dying out. I'm
already counting the days until next spring :)
