"Beautiful and graceful, varied and enchanting, small but
approachable, butterflies lead you to the sunny side of life.
And everyone deserves a little sunshine." ~ Jeffrey Glassberg

Mantis
I found this brown praying mantis on our back door threshold.
The insects range in color, usually looking pea green or brown,
but there are also mantises in various shades of green and even
pink.
The most interesting fact about the praying mantis is that a
female will occasionally eat a male to provide nutrition to their
developing young.

Cicadas
This is the year of the 13 year Cicadas. I found these shells under
our pear trees. Terry and I walk every afternoon when he gets
home from work. We see the shells and live Cicadas all over the
sidewalks, sometimes piles of them. We've been hearing them in
the trees as well. They're pretty cool little creatures with big red
eyes. Hopefully I can get a picture of a live Cicada.
