I was in the backyard taking pictures with my long lens on
November 11th when I spied this young hawk sitting in a
tree in our side yard. I was going to try and get closer, but he
spotted me :( By the time I got close to him he flew away.
Hopefully I'll have better luck next time.

That's a great shot of the hawk! They are beautiful birds. We've had one in our back yard. Once, he was perched on the lower limb of our mulberry tree, down low and close up. Awesome! Flew away before I could even think of grabbing my camera :) I used to worry about him swooping down and carrying off little Eddie Kitty when he first came here and was so tiny.
I had the same fear when Pinesap had her kittens under the forsythia in the front yard!. We have a hawk that hangs around, and I was so scared it would get those kittens. Nice pic, Ann! That hawk still has his spots!
