After The Storm

I took these shots yesterday afternoon after the storm that blew through Smith County.

Stormy Day!

Yesterday was a day of severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado
warnings across Middle Tennessee. We had lots of heavy rain, winds
and some ominous clouds that rolled through our neighborhood. There
were a couple of rotating thunderstorm clouds spotted near Carthage,
which is ten miles to the north of us. All in all I would say we dodged a
bullet yesterday as we were in a high risk for tornadoes. The scary thing
is tornado season hasn't even begun yet.

Sunflower for a Stormy Day

It's been a nasty, stormy, deary day here in Middle Tennessee.
We've been under a tornado watch all day and schools here in
Smith county let out early in anticipation of the bad weather.
Hope this sunflower brings a smile to your face :0)

Random Beach

The Romar Beach Baptist church on Orange Beach. They were
having a retreat the week we were at the beach. I've never seen
a church right on the beach before, have you?


Dolphin cruise anyone? I went on one in Hilton Head in 1989.
It was a lot of fun. They had glass bottom boat dolphin cruises
in Orange Beach.


This little blackbird landed on the railing of our room at our beach
house while I was taking pictures.

Stormy Beach

Gulls on Orange beach during the storm of June 8th. How I wish I
was back there!


Storms at the beach make for awesome colors!

A friend of ours fed our cats and collected our mail while we were
at the beach last week. We called her to check on things and she
told us that we had lost one of our Tulip Poplar trees in a storm
that came through on Sunday, June 5th. There was a Bluebird
family nesting in a birdhouse in this same tree. You can probably
see it in this picture.

Mother Nature

We had a severe thunderstorm a couple of days ago. One of our
Bradford Pear trees was damaged in the storm. We've had these
trees for 13 years and have been lucky that they haven't been
damaged in the past. I guess our luck finally ran out.




It looks like Terry will get to use that new chainsaw he bought
earlier this year :)

Don't Fool With Mother Nature

Two bad storms moved through our area last night. I woke
up this morning to three sunflower stalks broken off at the
middle of the stalk :(


Our Jack and the Beanstalk sunflower as I liked to call it was
one of the casualties of the high wind.


This is whats left of the sunflowers that
were knocked over in last night's storms.
At least I have this beautiful bouquet to
enjoy for awhile :)

There's A Storm a Brewin'

There was a non-tropical low pressure system located about
450 miles south of North Carolina while we were at the beach.
It rained off and on, but we had more sun than rain. It got real
bad on Sunday. The system finally cleared out on Thursday.

I was expecting a waterspout to form from this wall cloud,
but that didn't happen.

The Calm After the Storm

After yesterday's hail storm, we had these beautiful, white
clouds against a dark sky.

Hail Storm

Mother nature came calling in a big way early this morning.
I woke up to thunder, then heavy rain and lots of hail. I ran
to grab my camera and snapped these pictures. The hail piled
up quickly around our front porch.


I haven't seen this much hail in a long time!


Temperatures dropped in a hurry.


The hail hung around for a long time. If we were under a
thunderstorm warning I didn't know about it. I was too
busy taking pictures :)

After the storms on Thursday we were rewarded with
this incredible double rainbow.

Ocean Storm

Me and Terry went on an unforgettable trip to Key West,
Florida for our 25th wedding anniversary in August of
2007. While we were there we got to go out on a glass
bottom boat. The trip took us 3 miles out in the ocean
to view coral and fish as well as other marine life. While
we were out a storm blew up. This first picture was taken
from the back of the boat.


This picture was taken from the back of the glass bottom
boat as we were heading back to shore. It was an awesome
sight! Fortunately we got to enjoy our boat ride before we
had to head back.
