Who Are You?

Our garden owl. I don't think he scares many birds away,
but he sure is cool to look at :)

Random Close Up

Patch of moss.

The top of a gnarly old fencepost.

One of the suncatchers in our garden. I call
this our twirly blue globe thingy :)

In Memory

I wanted to post this picture in memory of Neil's mom. Neil
is my brother-in-law, and his mom, Lila Ruth Ranft, passed
away last night at the age of 93. My sister, Kay, and Neil lived
in Huntsville, Alabama in the early 70's. Me, my sister Jane
and brother Rob would go to Huntsville in the summer and
hang out. We would picnic and go fishing with Neil's mom and
dad and they treated us just like we were their own. I'll always
remember those fun times. Rest in peace, Mrs. Ranft. You were
one tough lady :)

Trees Up Close and Personal

The stump of a Leyland Cypress tree. If you look closely
you can count the rings.

Foliage of the Leyland Cypress. We planted
62 of these trees in our backyard. In the past
few years we've had to cut down 3 of them.
We call them our "living fence." We've had
to top them over the years because they've
grown so tall.

I'm not sure what kind of tree this is, but
the peeling bark is kind of interesting.
