Birds and Blooms

Willow tree Robin's nest. This is the third year in a row that they've nested in this spot.

Our Tree Swallow couple is back. They're setting up housekeeping in our garden bird house. We're hoping they have a successful nest this year!

Signs of Spring!

Signs of spring are starting to show in Smith county. Our bradford pear trees are already starting to bloom. The blooms are pretty, but they stink for some reason.

My willow tree is starting to green up nicely. I wish it wouldn't because I think we have more winter weather left.

Terry built three new planters on the other side of our garden fence. These will be filled with assorted flowers and flowering vines.

Our cat, Libby, in her usual spot on the deck. The cats have enjoyed this warmer weather. They've been cooped up in the garage during the winter.

Our sweet Jessie cat spends most of her time sleeping these days. She's had some health problems lately and we're making sure that she is comfortable, is eating well and is getting plenty of water. Her kidney problems have brought on a new unwelcome problem...vomiting. It's a part of it unfortunately. I have been breaking a Pepcid into four pieces. I crush up one piece and sprinkle on her canned food. It has helped and apparently the taste doesn't bother her. As soon as the weather warms up we plan on getting her a lion cut. She loves it!

I love the perspective I get with my wide angle lens. Love the two darker irises in the patch of light colored ones. I can't wait until our lilies start blooming, which should be any day now! Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

Our willow tree is the prettiest it's ever been with all the rain we've
had this year.


Yoshino Cherry

Our Fringe tree is in full bloom. The blooms are so pretty and
delicate. I wish it would look this way all year. Unfortunately
the little white fringes drop off and nothing but green leaves
are left.



Fringetree or Old Man's Beard is a beautiful, small tree when
it is in full Spring bloom. It can grow nearly anywhere in the
continental United States and it's white flower color kicks in
just as the dogwood blooms are fading.

The upright oval to rounded form of fringe tree adds dark
green color in summer, bright white flowers in spring. The
pure white, slightly fragrant flowers hang in long, spectacular
panicles which appear to cover the tree with cotton for two
weeks. As with other white flowered trees, they look best
when viewed against a dark background.

Pretty in Pink
