For the Love of Angels

When me and my husband, Terry, were looking for a place
to build a house in 1996, land was pretty scarce in the small
town where we live. After weeks of searching we finally
found a nice lot close to town, but still in the country. The
only problem, for me at least, was that the lot had a cemetary
adjacent to it. I wasn't sure at first if I wanted to live next to
a cemetary. We continued to look for a place to build, but we
kept coming back to this particular lot. We finally decided to
buy it and build our house on it and I'm so glad we did!


The cemetary is so peaceful and is a great place
to take a walk, which we do on a daily basis. I took
these pictures of various angel and cherub figurines
and statues on one of my recent walks.


I enjoy collecting angel and cherub figurines!


A close friend of ours gave this to me after
my brother passed away. It's surrounded
by sunflowers which are my absolute favorite!


Merriam-Webster defines an angel as:
1 : A spiritual being superior to humans in power
and intelligence; especially : one in the lowest
rank in the celestial hierarchy b plural : an order
of angels — see celestial hierarchy
2 : an attendant spirit or guardian
3 : a usually white-robed winged figure of human
form in fine art

Sunrise Sunset

Sunrise from our back porch.


This springtime sunset picture was taken from my sister
Cyn's deck in Lebanon. The following couple of shots were
taken from my front porch.

Random Shots

My dad passed away in March of 1999. We planted this
Yoshino cherry tree in his memory. When it's in full bloom,
we put a light in the center of it aimed upward. At night it
looks like a giant pink cloud. It's absolutely gorgeous!


I took this picture when we were flying back from Chicago.
Clouds fascinate me! I love taking pictures of them.

Ocean and Fire

We took these pictures of the beach and ocean in Destin,
Florida in May of 2008.

My niece Kelly took this picture with our camera. Not
sure whose footprint those are. I think they belong to
Kelly and Kerry.


Seems we always have a brush pile in our backyard. This
is just one of many bonfires we've had.


The fire was so hot you had to stand a long
way away from it. Even then you could still
feel the heat.

Rabbits, Cherubs and Owls Oh My!

This little rabbit family sits in the planter in front of our
house.


This is my niece Sarah when she was a wee
lass posing with the cement rabbit statue on
our front porch. I've always loved this picture!


Meet our garden owl. He protects our garden
from birds who love to eat our cherry tomatoes.

Hens & Chicks

I love this little hens and chicks plant. It sits out on our
front porch all winter and through the scorching afternoon
summer sun. It's a very hardy plant.


Hens and chicks plants are mat-forming succulents
that produce clusters of rosettes. The parent rosettes
are the "hens," and the smaller rosettes that spring from
them are the "chicks" or "chickens."
