The Tufted Titmouse is one of many species of birds that have
been visiting our bird feeder. They love the safflower seed. We
had a problem with blackbirds and grackles chowing on our
sunflower seed and running the other birds off. I had heard that
if you put safflower seed in your feeders, they avoid it. So far it's
worked like a charm. Squirrels hate safflower seeds as well.

I haven't seen one of these birds in a long time. Cute picture. Thanks for the info on safflower seeds. Very interesting! Makes me wonder why squirrels & blackbirds don't like them.

They don't like the safflower seed because it has a hard hull and it's slightly bitter. Our other birds love it! We haven't had grackles or blackbirds on our feeder since we started using it :0)

I'll have to tell Neil about the safflower seed. Never heard that. Stupid squirrels keep our feeders empty. Love the picture!

Thanks, Kay! Give the safflower seed a try. We got ours at Tractor Supply in Cookeville, but I think you can get it anywhere.
