Trees

Terry took this picture.
I took this shot. This was such a cool looking tree!

Below the Center Hill Dam where it runs into the Caney Fork River. If you look closely at the rocks near the water's edge you can make out some kind of water fowl. Not sure what that was.

We found this pretty creek on our road trip.
It was so clear you could see the bottom.

I've always had an interest in old headstones. While me and Terry were out on our road trip this past weekend, we stopped in a cemetery that contained a lot of old headstones. Some were so old you couldn't even read the inscriptions.
This is the oldest one we found from 1799.
I found this one to be quite interesting. There's a hand with a finger pointing up toward what looks like a Bible.

Late January Sunset

Yesterday's sunset. There is freezing rain and sleet in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow morning. My how the weather changes in just a matter of hours!

A young couple enjoying a day of fishing on the Caney Fork River. I would hate to fall into the water. The Caney Fork is cold!

A Creek Somewhere in Dekalb County

Terry took this shot with the wide angle lens. We're standing on a bridge somewhere in rural Dekalb county. That's me crouched down getting a shot of the beautiful countryside :0)

Center Hill Marina

We took a road trip this past Saturday on the back roads around Center Hill Lake. Terry took this shot of the Center Hill Marina at Cove Hollow. We were driving at the time. We stopped on the side of the road and Terry took the picture from the truck window with my wide angle lens. I love the colors in this shot!

Tufted Titmouse on our feeder. We have a lot of these in our yard. Click the link to learn more about this cute little bird.

Thursday, January 17, 2013

I took this picture the other day when it was 70 degrees outside and I had the window open in the office. Bullet was sitting in the window sill watching the birds fly by. I cringe to think of the carnage he would cause if he was an outdoor kitty!
I found this on the internet. Love it!

Hard to believe it was almost 70 degrees just three days ago. Today we have a mixture of sleet, rain and snow. The first thing I thought of when I took this picture was 666 the number of the beast :0)

Monday, January 14, 2013

Since the weather has turned colder, our backyard bird feeder has been packed. They eat the sunflower seed faster than I can put it out. This morning I caught a Flicker and two Black capped Chickadees feasting on the seed.

Yoga Cat

Our sweet cat, Libby, soaking up the sun and working on her yoga on this beautiful January day.

These aren't tiny grapes, although that's what they look like. They're purple berries that grow on the Privet shrubs in the hedgerow near our house. Privet is considered an invasive plant, but the berries sure are pretty!

Our cat Bullet in his new favorite hang out. He's discovered the top of the kitchen cabinets. Never a dull moment since he's been with us!

Bead Macro

This is a macro shot of the beads that decorate our lamp shades. You can even see the dust on them, which may or may not be a good thing!

Saturday, January 5, 2013

Here's another shot from yesterday morning's heavy frost. It looks like someone sprinkled salt on the leaves. I've learned how hard it is to take macro shots. It's almost impossible to hold the camera still enough. It takes a lot of practice and patience.
