Beach NIght Shots

I took these shots from the balcony of our condo the night of Aug. 20th. The camera was on a tripod on manual setting with the shutter speed set at 30 seconds. The lights are from people walking on the beach with flashlights.
I used the same camera setting for this shot as well. Both shots were taken after 9 pm.

Memories from Ft. Walton Beach. I have a lot of pictures from our trip that I haven't posted. I'll post more this week. We had a great trip, wonderful weather and tasty seafood. Both of us got a little sunburned, but that's ok. We got home late Saturday afternoon and were both worn out, but happy to be home. Our cats, Libby, Jessica and Bullet were happy to see us. We left them in the care of a good friend while we were gone.

Last Day at Ft. Walton Beach

Our last day on the beach began with trucks and men with nets on the beach. Thankfully they weren't here to take us away, ha ha hee hee! Turns out they were fishing tar chips out of the ocean. I found a little tar chip when I got out of the water yesterday. The BP spill was two years ago and this is still going on. It probably will be for years to come.
One of the workers in the water with a net.
We found a couple of noodles in the condo and had a lot of fun floating around the gulf. The water was so calm and pretty yesterday! We ended up staying out all day.
Cute little sandpiper looking for morsels in the sand.

The lunch at Fisherman's Wharf was so good on Thursday, that we decided to go back there for dinner last night. We feasted on grilled scallops, mahi mahi, shrimp and soft shell crab. The day ended with another gorgeous sunset. This picture doesn't do it justice! We were so tired from the beach that we turned in early. We have to check out of our condo at 10 am. I will be glad to get home, especially with Hurricane Isacc knocking on the door.

Day at The Beach

Yesterday we spent the entire day on the beach and in the gulf. The weather was beautiful and the water was gorgeous. Had a late lunch at Fisherman's Wharf. The grilled scallops were delish. Today is our last day here. It's been an awesome week!

Fishing pier in Ft. Walton Beach. We went there the other day and saw several dolphins.
The red flag was raised yesterday afternoon due to lightning in the area.
A gorgeous sunset capped off a fantastic day!

Back to Destin!

Terry got up early this morning and took these beautiful sunrise shots.
This morning we took a drive 6 miles east to Destin and Miramar Beach. We made a stop at the Margaritaville beach house we rented in May of 2008. It's changed a lot since we were here four years ago. They've added a pool since then.
There was a car from Texas parked in the driveway. This visit back to the beach house was bittersweet! Coming back was something I needed to do. Sad memories were replaced by thoughts of all the fun we had here that week!
After visiting the beach house we made a stop at the Destin Harbor Boardwalk.
There was a huge old Magnolia tree at the entrance.
Hubby Terry posing in front of the Magnolia tree.
Destin Harbor Marina is home of the largest fishing fleet in the state of Florida. It's absolutely gorgeous with lots of shops and restaurants.
Destin is such a beautiful place and it was good to get back there! We plan on heading back to Destin this evening to eat dinner at the Fisherman's Wharf.

Crescent Moon

Yesterday after a wonderful day at the beach and at the pool, we headed out for an anniversary dinner at a place called the Black Pearl. When we got back to the condo I set up my camera and tripod on the balcony and got this shot of the crescent moon over the ocean. The three bright objects in a triangle shape are Mars, Saturn and the star Spica. Spica is the 15th brightest star in the sky.

Waiting for the Sun

I took this shot yesterday from our balcony. It was a nice day to fly a kite at the beach!

Seagull flying over the dunes. I took this shot yesterday.

Today was pretty much a washout. We spent the day watching a movie, eating lunch at Floyd's Seafood in Ft. Walton and took a walk on the beach. Finally a glimpse of pink from the sunset this evening. Still hoping for better weather on Tuesday!!!

This is what we woke up to Sunday morning. It rained off and on all day, but that didn't stop us from having fun! We got in the pool and took some long walks on the beach. Last night we ordered a pizza from Papa John's. It's overcast and raining today. Just got back from a short walk on the beach. Hopefully the weather will cooperate tomorrow. The wireless internet leaves a lot to be desired so my blog updates may be sporadic.
