Took this shot of a turkey buzzard last week. I don't know about you,
but it looks like he or she is wearing pants :0)

Cummins Falls State Park

Me and T took a road trip down to Cummins Falls, which has recently
been designated as Tennessee's 54th state park. Temps were in the 90's
when we took the trek to the viewing area of the falls. They have work
yet to do in the area, but it's going to be really nice!

Cummins Falls also has been listed as one of the ten best swimming
holes in the United States by Travel and Leisure magazine. The water
is 30 ft. deep.

The falls are 75 feet high.

Cummins Falls is on the Blackburn Fork State Scenic River.

The trek down to the bottom of the falls is not
for the faint of heart. My hubby, Terry has repelled
off the side of the bluff here. Of course that was back
in his younger days :0)

Our baby Tree Swallows have hatched. As far as I can tell there are
two, but could be more. I've only seen these two. They are keeping
mom and dad very busy. It's so much fun watching both parents
feeding their babies :0)

Too cute!

In the upper right hand corner of this picture you can see an ant on
the bird box. Mom and dad grab those and feed them to the babies.

Parting Shots from Jackson County

I took these shots from the opposite side of the creek. Not sure what
kind of bird that is wading near the falls.

I took all of these pictures on our May 12th road trip in Jackson
County, TN.

What I see in Nature is a magnificent structure that we can
comprehend only very imperfectly, and that must fill a thinking
person with a feeling of humility. This is a genuinely religious
feeling that has nothing to do with mysticism.

Postcards from J County

On our road trip, we found this small cave in the side
of a bluff. Terry poses in front of the graffiti sprayed
on the side of the cave.

Me posing in front of cave opening.

Terry got this great shot of a Blue Heron standing in a creek. The
bird was so still, he looked like a statue. Terry took this out of the
driver's side window of our Jeep.

More creek shots.

I love the reflection of the bushes in the water. So peaceful and
pretty! We hated to leave!

Great and marvelous are Thy works.

May 12 Road Trip

Saturday, May 12, we took a road trip down to Jackson
county TN. Our first stop was Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery
where my parents are buried. My mom passed away three
weeks ago, so this was our first visit to the cemetery since her
funeral. We cleaned up the headstone and placed a flag for my
dad who was a WWII vet.

After we left the cemetery we headed out to the back roads of rural
Jackson county. My mom used to say that Jackson county was
God's country. She was right. It's beautiful! We would love to own
land there!

One of creeks we stopped by to take some pictures.

Everything is so green and pretty. I love spring! More pictures to
come :0)

The "Tiny Sensation" lilies we planted last year are blooming. The
colors are gorgeous.

Yesterday, we took Terry's mom out for Mother's
Day lunch at Chili's. They were handing out these
gorgeous white roses. I'm not a mom, but I got a
rose. It really made my day! Hope everyone had a
nice Mother's Day. It was weird for me because I
just lost my mom two weeks ago. It was definitely
a bittersweet day.
