Cherry blossoms. As always, our tree has been
beautiful this year!

"My heart that was rapt away by the wild cherry
blossoms -- will it return to my body when they
scatter?
" ~ Ōkuma Kotomichi (Japanese poet)

Black Capped Chickadees love to hang out in our Fringe tree near
the bird feeders. They will fly to the feeder, grab a sunflower seed,
then take it back to the tree to eat. It's always fun to watch them.

What a sweet little face. I love how he/she is straddled on the tree
limb :0)

field are mine." ~ Psalm 50:11

Family

My family celebrated my mom's 90th birthday yesterday at
Morningside of Cookeville. Persian, Morningside's house cat
even joined in on the festivities :0) We enjoyed a yummy cake,
punch and ice cream. Fun times, great memories, awesome family!

For the Love of Flowers

My sister, Kay, got this gorgeous flower
arrangement for my mom's 90th birthday. It
was an assortment of daisies, iris, carnations,
orchids and lillies. The vase was pretty as well!

Beautiful!

Happy Birthday, Ma!

Happy Birthday to my precious mother, Hamp Mabry, who was
born on this day in 1921. She turns 90 years young :0) She's still
just as feisty and spunky as ever!

All my love to the best mom in the whole world!
Happy, happy birthday! I hope you have many,
many more! I love you!!!

Time

One of my husband's co-workers makes these little heart-shaped
clocks. Terry got me one for Valentine's Day this year. I love
clocks and this one was a welcome addition to my collection.

Spring Postcards

Our neighbor's Bradford Pear tree in bloom.

Little leaf sprout on our Yoshino Cherry tree.

I know that Dandelions are weeds, but they're still pretty :0)

Yoshino Cherry blooms. With temps in the
40's today it sure doesn't feel like spring! I
think this is what they call a redbud winter.

Our Yoshino Cherry tree all decked out for Spring :0) When it's
lit up at night it looks like a big, pink cloud.

Birds of a Feather

Doves hanging out in our Tulip Poplar yesterday afternoon.

the pillow? It has more feathers than the dove, and it doesn't
have that dangerous beak.” ~ Jack Handy

It's a Bird, it's a Plane, it's Super Moon!

Last night was the so called "Super Moon" or "super perigee
moon" A super moon happens when the moon is slightly closer
to Earth in its orbit than on average. The last full Moon so big
and close to Earth occurred in March of 1993. I had my camera
set up on our deck on my tripod with my remote in hand waiting
to get an awesome shot of the super moon rising. One small
problem was the moon had to clear a cloud bank first.

I took this shot after the moon cleared the clouds. I hope you
got a great view of the "super moon" last night! BTW, today
is the first day of Spring! Happy Spring ya'll!!!

Purple Magnolia

Our next door neighbor, Mrs. Shaw, has this beautiful purple
magnolia
in her front yard. With weather in the 70's the past
few days, it's in full bloom and is absolutely gorgeous!

This magnolia is also known as a tulip magnolia.

Found this little lady bug on one of the blooms.

What a beautiful tree! Tomorrow is the official start of Spring!
Yay!!!!!

March 12th Roadtrip

Saturday, March 12th was a gorgeous day. Me and Terry set out
in the Jeep for a road trip. We went toward Cookeville, TN's Buck
Mountain, then up to Monterey. Took Highway 70 through Dry
Valley, then back home. I took this picture from the top of a
railway bridge on Buck Mountain looking down to the train tracks
below. Kind of spooky. More pics to come!

Up Close & Personal

Our cat, Libby. Libby is a "tortoiseshell cat."

Tortoiseshell describes a coat coloring found mostly in female
cats. Cats of this color are mottled, with patches of orange or
cream and chocolate, black or blue. They are sometimes called
torties for short.

Cats of this coloration are believed to bring good luck in the
folklore of many cultures. In the United States, these are
sometimes referred to as money cats.

"March is a month of considerable frustration - it is so near spring
and yet across a great deal of the country the weather is still so
violent and changeable that outdoor activity in our yards seems
light years away." ~ Thalassa Cruso

Little Sparrow

Happy is the person who not only sings, but feels God's eye is
on the sparrow, and knows He watches over me. To be simply
ensconced in God is true joy.

Tennessee State Bird

Grabbed a shot of Mockingbirds perched on our clothesline.

The Mockingbird is the state bird of Tennessee :0)

I found this cat lounging on our front porch a couple of days ago.
I have no idea where he came from. I think he was taking a fancy
to our cat, Jessica, who was sitting in the window seal at the time.
Thankfully both of our girls were spayed a long time ago :0)

Deer in the headlights :0) He heard the noise from my camera
shutter and looked up. Needless to say he was surprised to see
me standing at the door. He must belong to someone because
he looked like he hadn't missed a meal. I just hope he's been
neutered!
