Cat Got Your Tongue?

Our cat, Libby looks like she doesn't have a head in this picture :)

Cleaning herself on top of our spa.

I swear, that cat has a tongue that's five feet long :)

We Are Truly Blessed!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

"Take 5 minutes and sit quietly and reflect on all the blessings
in your life." ~ Catherine Pulsifer

Now You See It, Now You Don't

This Wild Cherry tree was half this size when
me and Terry built our house 14 years ago.
Lately we had noticed it was starting to die, plus
it was starting to lean into the power lines, so
we decided to have it cut down. The UCEMC crew
came out this morning and made quick work of
cutting it down and hauling it off.

This is all that's left. I hated to see this tree go!:( We plan on
planting another one sometime next year, only further away
from the power lines.

Moon Rising on November 21

I took this picture from our deck as the moon
rose last night. It was so pretty with the color
reflecting off the clouds.

Young Hawk

I was in the backyard taking pictures with my long lens on
November 11th when I spied this young hawk sitting in a
tree in our side yard. I was going to try and get closer, but he
spotted me :( By the time I got close to him he flew away.
Hopefully I'll have better luck next time.

Mr. Squirrel

And now, when comes the calm mild day, as still such days
will come,
To call the squirrel and the bee from out their winter
home;
When the sound of dropping nuts is heard, though all
the trees are still,
And twinkle in the smoky light the waters of
the rill,
The south wind searches for the flowers whose fragrance
late he bore,
And sighs to find them in the wood and by the
stream no more.” ~William Cullen Bryant

Rainy Days & Tuesdays

I took these pictures Tuesday morning of raindrops on our
Yoshino cherry tree. It was a cold, wet, dreary, miserable
day. I love that little hint of red in the background from our
Bradford Pear trees :)

Fall Color

This Bradford Pear tree in our neighbor's yard
looks like it's on fire. Gorgeous! Bradford Pears
are the last to start changing in the fall and the
first to bloom in spring.

Fall in Smith County

I took this shot with my long lens from my backyard. The fall
foliage is still pretty here in Smith County!

Jessie Cat Then & Now

Our cat, Jessica, was a stray who adopted us back in 1996. This
is how she looked shortly showing up at our house. She was skin
and bones and was very sick.

We nursed her back to health and she has grown into a beautiful,
sweet cat.

The smallest feline is a masterpiece. ~ Leonardo Da Vinci

This is Jessica now. She's 14 years old and except for a little bit
of arthritis, is still going strong.

She loves to have her picture taken and is such a little poser :)
It's amazing how attached you can get to a cat!

emotions into." ~ Bruce Schimmel

Happy Veterans Day!

My dad was stationed in Thorpe Abbotts,
England in 1943. He was an airplane mechanic
serving with the 100th Bomb Group 350th
Bomb Squadron. I would like to thank my
dad, my brother, Ken, and all vets past and
present for their service to this country!

This beautiful American flag flies in the cemetary
near our house. Let us always remember our vets
and the sacrifices they have made and make for us
everyday!

November Rose

We've had several frosts and a couple of freezes
so far this fall, but my rose bush keeps blooming!
Talk about hearty :)

Spider Web Cat

Our cat, Libby likes to hang out down in our Leyland Cyprus
trees. There she can stalk birds and catch the occasional mouse.
This is what she looked like after one of her excursions :) The
spider webs all over her face and head didn't seem to faze her.

Ahhhhh, nap time! I love this cat...she's so easy going :)

October Sunset

"There is nothing is more musical than a sunset.
He who feels what he sees will find no more
beautiful example of development in all that
book which, alas, musicians read but too little -
the book of Nature.
" ~ Claude Debussy

Today would have been my dad's 91st birthday.
Happy Birthday dad!!! I love you and miss you!
