Rural Smith County Tennessee

Saturday afternoon me and Terry got the Jeep out and took
a road trip. Of course I took the camera. I never pass up an
opportunity to get some pictures for my blog. We headed out
past the Carthage Junction toward Lancaster, Tennessee. We
took these pictures in and around rural Smith County.

The valleys, hollows and farmland in this area of Tennessee
are absolutely gorgeous.

We wouldn't mind owning a few hundred acres.

I love this shot and would love to live in that house!

Out In The Country

Whenever I need to leave it all behind ... or feel the need
to get away

I find a quite place...

far from the human race ...

Cove Hollow Road along Center Hill Lake

N0t sure what all those block pillars are. Terry think it's
the remnants of an old bridge.

Center Hill Lake

My road trip took me down to the Center Hill Dam.

There's a lot of work going on at the dam because of a seepage
problem.

Fall Roses

Although it's mid-November, the roses are blooming. My
brother, Ken, and his wife, Gena, live in Monterey, TN.
Gena took the following pictures in their front yard. It's
pretty amazing that roses would be blooming this far into
the fall. Ken says Gena feeds her roses banana peels. Check
out this link to find out how banana peels can help your roses.

Bare trees against a grey, fall sky. Thanks to Ken and Gena
for letting me share these pictures on my blog :)

Road Trip!

It was a chilly, but pretty day so I decided to jump in the
truck and take a little solo road trip. Destination...Hickman
and points beyond. Ended up driving to the Center Hill Dam.

There's some pretty farmland in Smith and DeKalb county.

I was hoping to run upon some wild turkeys. If you're lucky
you can see a lot of them in the fields this time of year.
Unfortunately I didn't see any on this trip.

I headed down this little side road off the Hickman highway
and found this pretty creek running alongside the road.

You never know what you'll discover when you get out and drive
in the country.

I'll be posting more of my road trip pics tomorrow :)

Lemon Thread Cypress

I love these plants. We have six of them growing along the
front of our house. They turn the prettiest shade of yellow
this time of year!

Like a graceful vase, a cat, even when motionless, seems to flow. ~ George F. Will

Jesse cat soaking up some rays on top of the barbecue grill.
I love how she crosses her front paws :)

What a sweetheart!
