Late August Sunset

I took these pictures yesterday afternoon. I could tell by
the way the clouds looked that it was going to be a gorgeous
sunset and I was right!

The lower the sun got in the sky, the more intense the colors became.

Sunflower Feast

Goldfinches and cardinals love our sunflower garden. Sunflowers
provide beauty to the garden and lots of free food for the birds.
We look forward to planting more of these beauties next year!

Wren's Nest

We have a little birdhouse hanging in one of our Tulip Poplar
trees in the backyard. Every summer for the past two years
a couple of wrens have taken up residence in the house. This
year they raised two broods of babies in the birdhouse. Each
year around this time I clean it out to get it ready for next year.

This wren nest had all kinds of bird feathers lining it. There
were also pine needles and twigs in it as well. I don't see how
they crammed all of that into such a small birdhouse. We look
forward to them nesting here next year!

Libby Kitty

Our cat Libby loves to sit up against the backdoor hoping
someone will open it so she can run in. She's notorious for
that.

Stretching out on the deck. One of her fave spots to lounge.

This is our cat Spooky peeking through the backdoor!

Lounging in the mulch.

Sunset Clouds

This was a cloud formation we saw as we headed out to
have dinner the other night. The pinks, purples and blues
were gorgeous with the puffy white clouds.

Anniversary Roses

Me and Terry celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary
on August 21. He surprised me with a dozen red roses. My
favorites!

Jessie Cat

I love this shot of Jessica! She hardly ever cooperates
when you want to take her picture, but for whatever
reason she was in the mood to pose for me. She's such
a sweetheart!

On Top of Old Smoky

These shots were taken in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee from
the deck of a cabin that we rented in March of 2006.

Rainbows End

Terry got home from work yesterday and asked me if I had
seen the rainbow. I ran to grab the camera and got these
pictures from our back deck.

It looked so beautiful over our flag!

Assorted Flowers

Zinnias

Sunflowers

This is a Blue Wishbone flower from a hanging basket on
our backporch. The hummingbirds love these.

This is what okra looks like before it becomes a pod. The
flower blooms out, falls off, then the pod appears. It's very
pretty! They resemble hibiscus flowers.

I Heart Clouds

I took these pictures late in the afternoon. This cloud
looked so cool with the sun beams shining out from it.

Every cloud has a silver lining.

Cicada

I found this abandoned Cicada shell attached to the limb
of our Yoshino Cherry tree.

Cock-a-Doodle-Do

This picture was taken in Key West, Florida where
free range chickens and roosters roam free in the
streets. I found this interesting website that gives a
history of the Key West chickens and roosters. The
link is http://www.keywestchickens.com/ if you
would like to check it out.

Just a little off the subject sidenote because I
was thinking about it and I'm a fan...Elvis Presley
died 32 years ago today.

Yoshino Cherry Tree

We planted this Yoshino Cherry tree 10 years ago in
memory of my dad who passed away in 1999. We look
forward to it blooming every spring.

When it's in full bloom, we put a light in the center and
aim it up. It's really pretty.

At night it looks like a pink cloud. We also planted a
Yoshino in memory of my brother who passed away
in 2008. I'm hoping in the next several years it will
be as beautiful as dad's tree.

Ocean Storm

Me and Terry went on an unforgettable trip to Key West,
Florida for our 25th wedding anniversary in August of
2007. While we were there we got to go out on a glass
bottom boat. The trip took us 3 miles out in the ocean
to view coral and fish as well as other marine life. While
we were out a storm blew up. This first picture was taken
from the back of the boat.

This picture was taken from the back of the glass bottom
boat as we were heading back to shore. It was an awesome
sight! Fortunately we got to enjoy our boat ride before we
had to head back.

Biltmore Geese

This picture was taken several years ago on one of the
roads leading to the Biltmore House in Asheville, North
Carolina. We were driving along and saw these geese out
taking a stroll.

Wood Bowls

I love collecting wood bowls. I got this one at Target of
all places. I love the grain on the inside!

I found this one at the Smithville Jamboree in 2008. It's
one of my favorites.

Peace Frog

I found this cute little critter when I was working in the
garden yesterday. I almost didn't see him because he
blends in so well with the wood chips on our garden path.

For the Love of Angels

When me and my husband, Terry, were looking for a place
to build a house in 1996, land was pretty scarce in the small
town where we live. After weeks of searching we finally
found a nice lot close to town, but still in the country. The
only problem, for me at least, was that the lot had a cemetary
adjacent to it. I wasn't sure at first if I wanted to live next to
a cemetary. We continued to look for a place to build, but we
kept coming back to this particular lot. We finally decided to
buy it and build our house on it and I'm so glad we did!

The cemetary is so peaceful and is a great place
to take a walk, which we do on a daily basis. I took
these pictures of various angel and cherub figurines
and statues on one of my recent walks.

I enjoy collecting angel and cherub figurines!

A close friend of ours gave this to me after
my brother passed away. It's surrounded
by sunflowers which are my absolute favorite!

Merriam-Webster defines an angel as:
1 : A
spiritual being superior to humans in power
and intelligence; especially : one in the lowest
rank in the celestial hierarchy b plural : an order
of angels — see celestial hierarchy
2 : an attendant spirit or guardian
3 : a usually white-robed winged figure of human
form in fine art
